‘Wendy has helped me uncover some of the deeper roots of my anxiety, and I’ve been able to release a great deal of the tension I had been holding. Working with her has helped me make real, lasting changes, step by step.’
EFT or ‘tapping’ is a gentle mind-body tool that helps calm the nervous system and release emotional stress. It involves tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points on the body (similar to acupuncture but without needles) while focusing on the feelings or thoughts that are bothering you. It works by combining elements of talk therapy, exposure therapy, and acupressure to help calm the nervous system and reduce emotional distress.
Tapping’ is one of the most researched natural and effective methods to reduce cortisol levels and alleviate anxiety. Numerous studies have confirmed its effectiveness. A study in 2020 found that EFT reduced cortisol levels by 43%, confirming earlier findings from 2012. The researchers concluded that EFT is “an efficient and effective brief treatment for reducing biological markers of stress.’
What is EFT?
How Does EFT Tapping Work?
If you're new to EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), it might seem a little unusual at first—but this gentle, powerful method is backed by science and has helped thousands of people feel calmer, clearer, and more in control of their emotions.
1. You Focus on What’s Bothering You
It starts by gently tuning into an emotion, memory, or physical sensation—something that’s causing you stress, anxiety, or discomfort.
Instead of pushing the feeling away (like we often do), EFT invites you to name it and hold space for it with compassion. This helps your brain bring the issue into awareness—so it can finally let go.
2. You Tap on Specific Points on Your Body
While focusing on the issue, you tap with your fingertips on a series of points on your face and upper body. These points come from ancient Chinese medicine and are the same ones used in acupuncture—just no needles! Tapping on them helps send calming signals to your brain and nervous system. Many people feel their stress drop within minutes.
3. You Say Simple, Supportive Phrases
As you tap, you repeat short phrases out loud—like: “Even though I feel anxious right now, I accept how I feel.”
This might sound strange, but it’s powerful: Youu're acknowledging what’s true for you in the moment without judgment, which lowers internal resistance and helps the emotion shift.
4. You Feel a Shift
After a few rounds of tapping, the intensity of the emotion usually starts to fade. You may notice your breath deepening, your shoulders dropping, or a sense of lightness returning. At this stage, we can introduce more positive statements like: “I’m safe now. I choose to feel calm and grounded.”
Why It Works (In Simple Terms)
EFT helps calm the part of the brain responsible for fear and stress—the amygdala. This means your body starts to relax, your mind becomes clearer, and you're able to process emotions without being overwhelmed by them. This allows longer term healing to happen. Over 100 published clinical trials now show that EFT is effective for treating anxiety, stress, depression, PTSD, phobias and pain. It’s also shown to reduce cortisol levels, one of the body’s stress hormones and to improve immune function. If you would like to read more of the research, click here
A Gentle, Empowering Tool for Real Change
EFT isn't about forcing yourself to “think positively.” It’s about meeting yourself with honesty, kindness, and awareness—so real healing can happen. Whether you're dealing with daily anxiety, past trauma, or just feeling stuck emotionally, EFT gives you a practical, supportive way to move forward.
“Wendy is amazing and I couldn’t recommend her enough. She is kind and empathetic and has good instincts for understanding her clients’ thoughts and needs.
Being made redundant came as a massive shock. It triggered anxiety; lack of self-confidence, doubt about my abilities, and many issues which I thought were a long time gone but were buried in me without me realising. I soon realised I needed ways of coping through this new chapter in my life and discovered tapping.
Wendy had a very soothing approach that made me feel instantly comfortable and safe. The combination of her coaching and tapping skills allowed me to process some of the memories which were inhibiting me from moving forward. I felt quite emotional during the process but after each session I felt like I was clearing the ‘dead wood’ that was holding me back. I experienced a particular feeling of relaxation from the tapping and felt lighter after each session. I now use Wendy’s tapping techniques whenever I feel a sense of anxiety or a thought that holds me back to move forward in my life.
I was always surprised by what came up from my sessions with Wendy, who I believe is an angel and miracle worker – thank you Wendy for guiding me and supporting me through my time of need. I have no doubt in recommending Wendy to all I meet.”
“Being new to EFT, Wendy explained the methodology well. She creates a very safe atmosphere and I find her to be warm, kind, empathetic, compassionate, and knowledgeable, with a lot of experience and insight. She takes time to help you get closer and closer to root issues whilst keeping you safe throughout. I feel that the tapping has helped and has also generated breakthroughs during and after our sessions. Wendy’s clear passion for EFT is only equal to her desire to help people overcome blocks and issues. Whether you’re looking to build inner confidence, deal with stress and anxiety, Wendy is very competent, inspiring and wonderful. Highly recommend.”
“I would highly recommend EFT with Wendy. I felt completely safe throughout as we worked through each session. She explains everything extremely well and works through the process with you and at times when it felt overwhelming she took us back to a place of safety. I left each session feeling relief and have found EFT to be a powerful tool to help get through emotional trauma. I use the technique if I feel stressed now day to day. ”
“I met Wendy by coincidence shortly after being diagnosed with breast cancer. It was one of the most difficult periods in my life, when I was grappling with the shock and uncertainty, with the sense of terror of what might lie ahead. I found Wendy exceptionally warm and compassionate.
The practice itself was so incredibly useful and enabled me to successfully navigate a very challenging time. It helped me to feel empowered when I felt weak and anxious, and equipped me with a practical skill I could rely on when things felt tough. I’d thoroughly, absolutely, without question, recommend her. ”
“I was feeling really flat and stuck before the sessions with Wendy and within just an hour, I knew exactly why I felt that way and worked through it. I left the sessions not only feeling crystal clear on what was causing the feelings but also excited on the new beginnings that lie ahead for me. ”
“I have had 6 EFT sessions with Wendy. I came with a lot of issues connected to general stress. Wendy helped me to connect with my body and process the feelings. She’s empathetic and intuitive and I felt safe and supported during my sessions. I now feel much calmer and able to make informed decisions.”
